Having heard Cay's recent Peel session and recordings I was very pleased to find that they were headlining a gig I was going to anyway (to see Rothko who as it turned out had to cancel and were replaced by the more than adequate Billy Mahonie).
Comparisions have already been drawn between Cay and Hole. However, Holes early material was never as well formed as this. Don't get me wrong though, I love my Teenage Whore as much as the next, but personally I'd take a step further along the grunge family tree and site Babes in Toyland, who right from the word go somehow hammered their noise into actual songs.
Hey! I hear you cry, we're not here to talk about other bands, tell us about Cay for f*cks sake. Well fair enough then... |

a lot to report but more than others in these pages. Here's what's available to my knowledge at time of going to server: 'Better than myself', a single on Org (catalogue No. Organ048) and a track called 'Reasonable Ease In Chilled Out Conditions' on a compilation from the 'The Joy Of Plecs' double 7-inch from Fierce Panda (NING 63).
So does the world need another girl fronted post-punk band? Yeah, I think it does and it might as well be one with decent tunes and a bit of indie charisma.
